An architect-led renovation company in Toronto
Victorian Reno was formed in 2021 when two firms merged: an architectural practice and a construction company, both founded in 2011. One brought the drawings. The other brought fifteen years of building homes in the GTA.
That merger is the reason we do not hand your project between companies. Design and construction used to be separate businesses. Now they are one team, under one roof, working from the same set of drawings.

How Victorian Reno started
Giovanna Fontoura trained as an architect and spent years running build projects for Starbucks, RBC, Tumi, Muji, and LifeLabs. Those jobs ran to a fixed date and a fixed budget, with drawings that had to be followed and inspections that had to pass the first time. In 2011 she founded FV Architects and brought that standard into residential work.
The same year, Igli Kanan founded MK Contracting, a construction practice building homes across the GTA.
The two firms worked the same market for a decade from opposite ends of the process. One drawing, one building. In 2021 they merged and became Victorian Reno.
We kept the way those corporate projects were run: one team, drawings that are actually followed, and a fixed price agreed before anyone picks up a hammer.

Meet the founder
Giovanna Fontoura
Architect and co-founder
Giovanna trained as an architect and built her career across architecture, construction, interior design, and project management before founding FV Architects in 2011. She draws the plans, files the permits, and runs projects on site herself.

Where the process came from

A retail or bank build runs to a fixed date and a fixed budget, with drawings that have to be followed and inspections that have to pass the first time. That is the standard we brought to houses.
What makes us different
Design and build were two companies. Now they are one.
Our trades are part of our regular team and have been working with us for years.
Fifteen years of building in the GTA
Most renovation firms hire out either the drawings or the trades. We merged an architectural practice with a construction company, so there is no handoff and no gap between what was designed and what gets built.
Electricians, plumbers, and carpenters on our payroll, not hired job by job. That is why the quality does not change from one room to the next.
Both founding firms started in 2011. That is fifteen years of Toronto houses, permits, inspections, and knowing what is behind the walls of a 1920s semi.

How we work
We tell you the honest answer
Sometimes that means telling you the smaller job is the right one, or that your house is not a good candidate for what you had in mind. We would rather say it early than take the work.
You always know what happens next
A written scope, a fixed price, and real dates before we start. One project manager, and a callback the same day during business hours.
We leave your home better than we found it
Floors and routes protected, the work area tidied at the end of each day, and a full cleanup before the final walkthrough.
What our clients say
"Very different from a previous management firm that disappeared halfway through the job. Respectful and transparent from day one."
Bill A. — York
"The manager was there every step, helping with the design until we found the perfect fit."
Anna Hikings — Etobicoke
"I could not be happier with their team's honesty and reliability."
Antonietta Trama — Mississauga
